Alex Cooper is responding to rumors surrounding her marriage to Matt Kaplan.

The 31-year-old Call Her Daddy host opened up about the rumors she and Matt were experiencing “marital issues” during a new episode of her podcast, revealing she had a stressful red carpet event in May while at the YouTube TV Upfronts.

“The truth is my goal was to try to pull Kylie Jenner. I really wanted to,” Alex said, referencing when Kylie mostly hid her pregnancy until Stormi was born. “I just one day wanted to come on and announce like, ‘Oh, I had a baby.’ But the unfortunate reality is that my job does require me to be seen either on my show or out at public events.”

She said she told her husband she wanted to keep the pregnancy a secret until late summer, but that didn’t happen.

“I started hyperventilating. I am having a mental breakdown on this carpet,” Alex recalled. “I’ve got my Spanx literally hiked up to my nipples. We’re about to be late. I am sucking in for dear life. I’m trying to make this work as we walk out the door.”

She and Matt discussed how they would handle things, telling her husband he needed to “match” her energy.

“We are going business. We are going professional, business professional, not business casual, business professional. He’s like, ‘Okay, babe, sure. Whatever you say.’ I’m like, ‘We’re gonna keep it tight. We’re gonna keep it serious. We’re gonna keep it quick,’” she recounted.

Funnily enough, the rumors afterward were just about her and Matt looking “miserable” rather than unveiling her pregnancy.

The podcaster continued, “I said, ‘Babe, that is a win for a win for a win.’ These people, you guys are dissecting Matt and my body language together on the carpet saying, ‘This looks like an arranged marriage. Like, this relationship looks like a business deal.’

By the end of her recollection, Alex assured fans that they don’t need to worry and her and Matt are doing “great.”

The man accused of firing shots at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner is pleading not guilty.

Cole Tomas Allen, who was arrested during the event and armed with guns and knives, entered a not guilty plea on Monday (May 11) while being charged with the alleged attempted assassination of President Donald Trump, plus two federal gun charges.

The two federal gun charges are interstate transportation of weapons and discharge of a firearm during a violent crime.

During his arraignment, the 31-year-old California man did not speak at all, allowing one of his attorneys to enter the plea on his behalf, AP reports.

His legal team is asking the judge to disqualify Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro from prosecution, as they were at the event and may act as potential witnesses, creating a potential conflict of interest.

The judge gave prosecutors until May 22 to respond to the request, and asked the government to specify whether they think the two could be considered victims in the case.

Cole, who was briefly placed on suicide watch after the arrest, faces life in prison if convicted of the attempted assassination charge.

He is set to return to court on June 29.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Ballantine told the court last month that he was found to have a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, a .38-caliber semiautomatic pistol and three knives. Cole‘s court-appointed defense lawyer Tezira Abe told the court at the ime, “Mr. Allen has no prior arrests or convictions. He is presumed innocent at this time.”

During an appearance on 60 Minutes following the shooting at the 2026 White House Correspondents’ DinnerTrump weighed in on growing conspiracy theories that the incident was staged.
