Marius Borg Høiby is going to prison.
The 29-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway was found guilty of two counts of rape on Monday (June 15).
He was cleared of two other counts of rape, and was sentenced to four years in prison, according to the BBC.
Marius denied all four counts of rape.
He wasn’t physically in attendance for his sentencing due to “health reasons” per the report, but joined via video.
Prosecutors were initially looking for a sentencing of seven years and seven months, while his defense called for 18 months. They have indicated that they will appeal.
His mom Mette-Marit‘s health is declining, as she has pulmonary fibrosis and recently joined a lung transplant list, per the report. Marius‘ defense team tried to get him released from prison so he could spend time with her, but the court rejected the plea as he might try to contact a woman he was convicted of assaulting. He reportedly broke a restraining order to see her previously.
The alleged incidents occurred at the Crown Prince’s estate at Skaugum in 2018, and with a woman in Oslo in 2024. He was also convicted of abusing an ex-girlfriend Nora Haukland, a Norwegian influencer, and of causing “serious bodily harm to another partner, in whose flat he was arrested in the upmarket Frogner area of Oslo in August 2024.”
