Minions & Monsters isn’t doing as great at the box office as some predicted for the latest entry in the Despicable Me universe.
The prequel film in the franchise opened far behind projections at $64.5 million from Wednesday through the Fourth of July Weekend, per Variety.
It was projected to start at $80 million across the five days. That said, analysts also predicted a slower box office weekend due to the July 4 holiday landing on a Saturday, although Toy Story 5 earned $31 million in the same stretch in its fifth weekend at the box office.
2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru and 2024’s Despicable Me 4 opened to $123 million and $122 million, respectively, over the same five-day holiday frame.
There have been seven Despicable Me movies in the past two decades.
It fared better overseas, bringing in $86 million over the weekend and $98 million to date, bringing the worldwide haul right now to $159.8 million.
The film is “the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.” Watch the trailer inside…
At TPG, we’re all about maximizing our credit cards. That includes maximizing all benefits provided by issuers, which include statement credits.
Our monthly checklist highlights all the perks and benefits you should take advantage of each month. Whether you have one or several credit cards, a checklist is an excellent way to ensure you maximize your benefits.
There are some statement credits provided at different intervals, such as quarterly, biannually or yearly, and these are the ones we can easily forget about.
Here are some important reminders about statement credits that should not be overlooked. We suggest bookmarking this page and revisiting it every quarter.
American Express
Numerous card perks are available through Amex cards. You should use them since Amex offers a variety of statement credits at different intervals throughout the year. Most of these values are “up to” amounts, meaning the stated value is the maximum amount you will receive in statement credits.
Additionally, these benefits cannot be rolled over and used later. They are “use it or lose it” statement credits.
