The family of the late Kyle Busch make their first public appearance since his tragic death last week.

His wife Samantha Busch and their two kids Brexton, 11, and Lennix, 4, stepped out at the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 held at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday (May 24) as the sport remembered the late driver.

Also in attendance were Kyle‘s brother Kurt Busch and girlfriend Lyda Moore, and parents Tom and Gaye for a special tribute.

NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell led the remembrance ceremony.

“Every racetrack was Kyle Busch’s home,” he said. “He competed like he had something to prove every single race, when in reality he had already proven everything. What I think we’ll miss the most isn’t the wins. It’s the guy who quietly wanted to help a teammate, give some advice, the husband, the father, the guy who quietly did thing for other when no one was watching.”

Samantha, I want you to know that this sport stands with you, and you and your children are NASCAR family forever. Brexton and Lennix, your dad loves you with all his heart,” Steve added. “Everyone gathered here, everyone behind you, everyone watching on TV and all those people up in that grandstand, they are your family and we’ve got you.”

Kyle Busch is NASCAR. He was one of a kind, and there will never be another.”

Kyle was preparing to race in the event that day, before falling ill with severe pneumonia, which progressed into sepsis. He sadly passed away on Thursday (May 21).

Kyle‘s No 8 is being reserved by his team Richard Childress Racing until Brexton is ready to continue his father’s legacy in NASCAR.

“Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond,” they shared in a statement after his death. “Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR’s stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry. No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing.”

Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody is extending it’s run!

The Off-Broadway show just kicked off previews at the 6th Floor Theater at The Culture Club on Tuesday night (May 12), and it’s already adding more dates due to popular demand.

In addition, a brand new production photo of stars Jay Armstrong Johnson (Ilya) and Jimin Moon (Shane) has been released, where the actors can be seen recreating the gym scene from the first episode of the hit TV series.

Inspired by the hit show about hockey, Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody follows “starry-eyed golden boy Shane Hollander on his journey from power center to power bottom. Relive all of the moments from the show that made you wet (with tears) up close on the small-stage by an incredible cast of Broadway actors who thought they were auditioning to be in Season 2.”

The cast of the show also includes Ryann Redmond, Cherry Torres and Ryan Duncan, as well as standbys Shelby Acosta and Daniel Brackett.

Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody was originally only going to run for eight weeks, through July, but will now run through September 7th.

“Heated Rivalry” author Rachel Reid recently shared her thoughts on the show, and if she is planning to go see it.

“It’s kind of fascinating to me. I think, in a way, it’s an honor, right? If you get to that kind of level, you have to be flattered. I don’t know if I’ll see it or if it’d be weird to see, but it’s definitely intriguing. It’s kind of cool that it’s happening.” – Rachel Reid, Entertainment Weekly

The author, who is currently working on a seventh book in the “Game Changers” series, titled “Unrivaled,” which will be the third Shane x Ilya book, added that she has followed the musical parody “very little.”

So, does she have any plans to go see it?

“I don’t have plans right now. I have not spoken to anybody there… There are some things, like the raves and things like that, I don’t think I could go to because I think it would be too much, too overwhelming, too weird for me, just from the clips I’ve seen. And this might be a similar thing. But I hope other people enjoy it.”
