Katy Perry is getting honest about the past year.
The 41-year-old “Teenage Dream” superstar shared details about how her 2025 went during the world premiere of her Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live in Paris on Monday (June 8) at Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.
She said 2025 was “one of the hardest years of my life,” per EW.
“We’re all human here. And it doesn’t matter — sadness doesn’t discriminate, grief does not discriminate, pain does not discriminate. Everyone is subjected to it in their own ways. Last year was probably one of the hardest years of my life.”
“I went through a f— ton. And there were days that were really, really, really hard. And I just kept going because I made a promise to my fans, a promise to my daughter, and a promise to myself,” Katy explained.
Last year, she and Orlando Bloom called off their engagement. She also went to space with celebrities, which drew widespread backlash.
Katy said she “got through it…I walked through the fire, because everybody has to walk through their own fire. And if you’re walking through hell, you keep going, because on the other side of hell is definitely heaven.”
She also referenced her new beau Justin Trudeau.
“Actually, that show [that was filmed for the documentary] was after I met the love of my life, so I felt very anchored by that, because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite. I fly super high and touch the veil — cosmos — and sometimes I need to be anchored. And so to have that anchor, finally, makes me feel really whole now,” she explained.
“So I think yes, I did follow the butterfly and I never really knew what the butterfly meant to me, but it was a metamorphosis. And it still continues to be a metamorphosis and I would give that advice to everyone to follow the inner butterfly inside of them.”
The couple made their red carpet debut at the premiere of the concert film that night.
