Chappell Roan is opening up about her complicated relationship with social media.

The 28-year-old Grammy-winning “Good Luck Babe!” singer appeared on P&G and iHeartRadio’s Elton John Impact Awards podcast for the Monday (June 1) episode, where she candidly discussed the challenges of being online and explained why she doesn’t keep social media apps on her phone.

“It’s very disheartening sometimes to really go into the comment section,” Chappell admitted.

The singer said she has learned to step away when online discourse becomes overwhelming.

“I just delete it when it becomes too much and keep it moving,” she shared. “Because at the end of the day, no matter what anyone says about me online or in person, it’s not gonna stop people like Elton [John] and I [from] donating money, donating time, writing about things that matter to us.”

Chappell went on to explain that public figures often struggle to separate their online presence from their personal values.

“It’s such a difficult world to navigate that personally, if I just delete it and keep it moving, I kind of make it out of that hurricane,” she explained. “But that’s hard for a lot of artists because, if you really rely on social media to fuel your momentum, that can be really disheartening and it can feel very hopeless.”

While acknowledging that many artists depend heavily on social platforms to grow their careers, Chappell recognized that her own success gives her a level of freedom that not everyone has.

“I’m in a very privileged position where I can be like, ‘I’m not gonna be on this and I’ll be fine.’ But not everyone is like that.”

In case you missed it, soccer player Jorginho Frello released a statement absolving Chappell of any wrongdoing in the alleged situation regarding his 11-year-old daughter at Lollapalooza.

Barbra Streisand is set to be honored at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, but she will no longer be attending the ceremony.

The 84-year-old icon will sadly not be there to accept her honorary Palme d’Or at the closing ceremony of the film festival due to a knee injury.

“On the advice of my doctors, as I continue recovering from a knee injury, I am sadly unable to attend the Festival de Cannes this year,” she shared in a statement, via Variety.

“But I am deeply honored to receive the honorary Palme d’Or and had so been looking forward to celebrating the remarkable films of the 79th edition.”

“I was also very much looking forward to spending time with colleagues whom I so admire — and, of course, returning to France, a place I have always loved. While I regret that I can’t be there in person, I want to extend my warmest congratulations to all of the filmmakers from around the world whose extraordinary talent and creative vision are being celebrated this year,” the statement continues.

“My heartfelt thanks to the Festival, and to everyone who continues to support and champion the art of cinema.”

The tribute will still happen on May 23.

Iris Knobloch, Thierry Frémaux and the entire festival team send Barbra Streisand their warmest wishes for a prompt recovery,” the festival said in a press release.

Barbra will be the third person to get an honorary Palme d’Or in 2026, including Peter Jackson and John Travolta.

If you missed it, Jane Fonda recently questioned why Barbra got to do Robert Redford‘s In Memoriam tribute at the 2026 Oscars, when she worked with him more often.
