Angelina Jolie made a striking arrival at a screening of her new film Couture on Tuesday night (June 16) in New York City.
The Oscar-winning actress was photographed greeting fans outside The Whitby Hotel before heading inside for the event. Angelina looked elegant in Tom Ford, wearing a strapless draped evening dress and a patent leather vertigo ankle strap pump. She also took some photos wearing a cream-colored jacket layered on top.

In Couture, Angelina plays Maxine, an American filmmaker who is diagnosed with breast cancer while working in Europe. The role hits close to home for the actress, whose mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died from ovarian and breast cancer in 2007. Angelina later underwent a preventive double mastectomy after learning she carried the BRCA1 gene mutation.
Speaking to People, Angelina called the movie “a beautifully written piece about women from different countries.”
“It has something to say that I thought could be useful to people, showing how everyone is dealing with things that make us very human, and that if we can figure out how to live through challenges by leaning on each other and having more empathy towards one another, the better and less alone we will be,” she said.

The actress also reflected on where she is emotionally today.
“I am not sure I was strong enough even five years ago to do this. To be open and trusting to share and be vulnerable again,” she admitted. “Things happen in life that take us off path. We lose ourselves and we feel isolated.”
Angelina then honored her late mother, adding, “I would have given anything to have my mother alive to be there for her grandchildren,” she says.

Last week, Zahara Jolie-Pitt became the latest of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s kids to legally file to remove her father’s last name.
