Grandmother Found Brutally Slain With Knives Still In Her Face – Here’s What Her Teen Grandson Allegedly Told Police

A horrifying case out of New Jersey is leaving an entire community shaken after authorities say an 18-year-old boy allegedly murdered his own grandmother in an especially brutal attack inside her home.

According to prosecutors in Ocean County via Us Weekly and multiple other outlets on Tuesday, 69-year-old Darlene Brown was discovered dead inside her Jackson Township residence early last Monday morning. Investigators say the scene they walked into was deeply disturbing, too — authorities allege the grandmother suffered multiple stab wounds to her face and neck, and police reportedly found two knives still protruding from her when officers reached the upstairs bedroom where she was found.

The suspect in the case is Darlene’s own grandson, Louis Brown, who has now been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. And the details surrounding the moments before police arrived are incredibly unsettling.

Officials say authorities were dispatched to the home shortly after 7 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a homicide. Prosecutors claim Louis himself made that call. According to local reports, the teen allegedly admitted to dispatchers that he had been drinking before his grandmother’s death.

Oh, and get this — he also reportedly told responding officers that he did not want to answer questions about the incident.

When police arrived at the house, officers allegedly found Louis standing in the front doorway. Authorities say he exited the home with his hands raised before he was immediately taken into custody without incident.

Meanwhile, investigators began piecing together what may have unfolded during the night.

One neighbor reportedly told police she heard unusually loud music blasting from the residence around 1 a.m., something she claimed was completely out of character for the normally quiet home. Just hours later, police would discover the gruesome crime scene upstairs.

As more information emerges, even more troubling allegations are surfacing. According to reports, school officials allegedly informed investigators that Louis had recently displayed concerning behavior in school, including making threatening comments and gestures. Authorities were reportedly told the teen had spoken about wanting to kill people and had mimicked holding a gun with his hands.

Family members also allegedly noticed alarming changes in his behavior in the days leading up to the killing. According to reports from Ocean County, Louis’ mother told investigators he “did not seem to be himself” recently. She reportedly became increasingly concerned after repeated calls to both her mother and son went unanswered before the tragedy was discovered.

At this point, investigators still have not revealed a possible motive, and many questions remain unanswered about what may have led to such a devastating and violent incident inside the family home.

In the meantime, Louis remains in custody at the Ocean County Jail while awaiting a detention hearing. It is not yet clear whether he has entered a plea or retained an attorney, per Us Weekly.

Still, it’s all just heartbreaking all around. A grandmother is dead, a family has been shattered, and an entire community is now left trying to understand how something this horrific could happen…
