How to transfer Chase points to Hyatt in 2026: A step-by-step guide and tips

You typically get the most value from Chase Ultimate Rewards points when you transfer them to one of the program’s airline or hotel loyalty program partners.

Even though the World of Hyatt award charts now have five pricing tiers per category instead of three, the program remains one of the best Chase transfer partners. So, here’s what you need to know about transferring Chase points to Hyatt.

Chase Sapphire Reserve® — Earn 150,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening (see rates and fees).

Can you transfer Chase points to Hyatt?

If you have one of the following Chase cards, you can transfer points from your Ultimate Rewards account to select airline and hotel loyalty programs, including World of Hyatt:

Additionally, if you have other Ultimate Rewards cards that earn cash-back rewards, such as the Chase Freedom Unlimited® (see rates and fees) or the Chase Freedom Flex® (see rates and fees), you can transfer rewards from these cards to a card account that earns Ultimate Rewards points. Then, you could transfer all the rewards — including those originally earned via cash-back Ultimate Rewards cards — to transfer partners such as World of Hyatt.

Chase-to-Hyatt transfer ratio

As with all the Ultimate Rewards transfer partners, the Chase to Hyatt transfer ratio is 1:1, and you must transfer points in increments of 1,000. This means that if you transfer 10,000 Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt, you’ll end up with 10,000 Hyatt points.

A transfer bonus could theoretically boost the transfer ratio; however, we’ve yet to see a transfer bonus from Chase Ultimate Rewards to World of Hyatt and are unlikely to see one due to the high value of Hyatt points.

How much are Hyatt points worth?

World of Hyatt is one of, if not the, most valuable Chase transfer partners. Based on TPG’s May 2026 valuations, Hyatt points are worth 1.65 cents each while Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth 2.05 cents each.

Our valuation of Hyatt points reflects what you can expect to receive when redeeming Hyatt points for hotel stays.

How long does it take to transfer Chase points to Hyatt?

Chase notes that Hyatt points should appear in your account by the next business day, but it may take up to seven business days. In practice, points I transfer from Chase to Hyatt usually appear in my Hyatt account almost immediately.

You’ll get an email from Chase once you submit a request to transfer Chase points to Hyatt and another once the transfer is complete. So, even if your transfer takes a bit longer than usual, know that you’ll get an email once it’s complete.

When should you transfer Chase points to Hyatt?

I transfer Chase points to Hyatt when I don’t have enough Hyatt points in my account to book a specific award stay and don’t want to buy Hyatt points. I always compare paid rates to award rates and redeem Hyatt points instead of booking a paid stay when I get at least 2 cents per point in value.

However, there are two other aspects to consider before transferring Chase points to Hyatt.

Transfer to Hyatt versus booking through Chase Travel: Which is better?

You can transfer Chase points to Hyatt and then book an award stay through World of Hyatt. However, another way to redeem Ultimate Rewards points for a Hyatt stay is to book through the Chase Travel℠ portal and redeem them at checkout.

I generally avoid booking Hyatt stays through the Chase Travel portal, as these bookings usually won’t earn me elite credits and benefits from World of Hyatt (only bookings through The Edit by Chase Travel let you earn hotel points and elite benefits). However, some travelers may want to compare the points cost of booking directly with Hyatt versus booking through the Chase Travel portal.

Other ways to earn Hyatt points (besides transfers)

Transferring Chase points to Hyatt isn’t the only way to earn Hyatt points. If you need to boost your Hyatt account balance quickly, you can also buy Hyatt points.

If you have more time to earn Hyatt points, you could also boost your account balance via stays or spending with a World of Hyatt card. Here’s a look at the welcome offers on two such cards:

  • World of Hyatt Credit Card (see rates and fees): Earn up to 60,000 points: 30,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening and up to 30,000 more bonus points by earning 2 bonus points total per dollar spent (on up to $15,000) on purchases that typically earn 1 point per dollar in the first six months from account opening.
  • World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (see rates and fees): Earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

So, while transferring Chase points to Hyatt is a great way to accrue Hyatt points, it’s not the only way.

Mistakes to avoid when transferring Chase points to Hyatt

It’s difficult to make a mistake when transferring Chase points to Hyatt. But perhaps the best way to avoid a mistake is to ensure you’re ready to convert your Chase Ultimate Rewards points into Hyatt points before confirming the transfer, as transfers are one-way and irreversible.

You’ll also want to confirm award availability on your specific dates and double-check the total award cost of your stay before transferring Chase points to Hyatt. You should also check the paid rates and calculate your redemption rate to ensure you wouldn’t be better off booking a paid stay and saving your points for a more valuable redemption.

Finally, it’s a good idea to check how many points you already have in your Hyatt account before assuming you need to transfer the full award stay cost from Chase.

Hyatt versus other Chase transfer partners

World of Hyatt is easily one of Chase Ultimate Rewards’ best transfer partners. Not only can you expect to get 1.65 cents per Hyatt point when redeeming for stays, but it’s also surprisingly easy to find award availability and book Hyatt stays. As such, Hyatt points are both valuable and easy to use.

But Hyatt isn’t the only valuable Chase transfer partner. Others include Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, United MileagePlus and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

Bottom line

Transferring Chase points to Hyatt is often a good way to get excellent value from your Ultimate Rewards points. However, keep in mind that every Chase point you transfer to Hyatt is a Chase point you can’t transfer to other Ultimate Rewards transfer partners.

I recommend keeping your Ultimate Rewards points until you’re ready to book an award flight or night. Then, transfer your rewards once you find availability and determine the redemption rate is high enough to justify using your Ultimate Rewards points.

If you need more Chase points, consider taking advantage of one of the following welcome offers on Ultimate Rewards cards:

Body and face lotions are counted as liquids by the TSA. This also includes most other variants of lotions, like body creams, gels, pastes, butter, and similar alternatives. Even thicker body ointments are considered liquid. If you can smear it, it’s considered liquid.

When packed in hand luggage (carry-on or personal item), they’re limited to 3.4 oz (100 ml) bottles or smaller. You also have to put them in your quart-size bag together with your other toiletries.

Only medically-prescribed lotions are allowed in larger quantities in hand baggage. But you’ll have to show the TSA agent your prescription. Otherwise, they’ll be treated like any other liquid.

It’s also worth noting that half-empty lotion bottles that are over 3.4 oz (100 ml) aren’t allowed. That’s because the TSA agent has no way of telling how much lotion is left inside.

In checked bags, TSA allows lotions in larger quantities. You could even fill your suitcase to the brim with lotions and it would still be allowed. There also aren’t any restrictions on how you should be packing them.

Traveling With Lotions Internationally

Generally, the rules for traveling with lotions are identical across the world. In hand baggage, they’re limited to small 100 ml containers and they aren’t restricted in checked bags.

Only Australia and New Zealand have different rules. Both of these countries have incorporated new 3D CT scanners in their airports, which can safely screen liquids in larger quantities. When you’re flying domestically in Australia or New Zealand, your lotion bottles aren’t restricted to 3.4 oz containers in hand baggage.

How to Pack Lotions in Luggage

To avoid spills in your luggage, here’s how you should be packing lotions in your luggage:

  • Avoid placing the lotion bottle near the edges of your suitcase to avoid punctures and direct hits
  • Always wrap your lotion in soft clothing
  • Tape the lid to the bottle to keep it from accidentally opening
  • Put the lotion bottle in a separate Ziploc bag if packed in checked baggage
  • If in hand luggage, always put it inside your bag of toiletries. Remember to keep it somewhere accessible because you’ll need to take it out when going through security

There are Some Travel-Friendly Alternatives to Lotions

It goes a bit against common sense but there indeed are some “solid” lotion alternatives, which don’t have any packing restrictions. You can find solid stick moisturizers and solid lotion bars if you look around online, sold by Blush and other large brands. These usually need to be applied to wet skin in order for them to work.

Another option is to use moisturizing wipes. Even though they contain a bit of liquid inside, they are considered solid items by the TSA. You won’t have to put them in your toiletry bag when going through security. They’re also super easy to use when you’re on the plane.

Summing Up – Traveling With Lotions

You can fit roughly 6-8x 3.4 oz (100 ml) containers in your 1-quart bag of toiletries. For traveling, it’s usually enough to bring just one small bottle of lotion. But it’s hard to find a small lotion bottle. So the best thing that you can do is to transfer it from a larger bottle to a smaller one.

If you need to bring larger quantities of lotion, your only option is to pack it in your checked baggage or buy it at your destination.
