“As the United States celebrates America’s 250th anniversary in July, the State Department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed U.S. Passports to commemorate this historic occasion,” spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in an email to NBC News.
“These passports will feature customized artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the same security features that make the U.S. Passport the most secure documents in the world.”
The “special edition” passport will be the default from the Washington Passport Agency while it is available, per a State Department official.
The existing passport design will be available online and in other locations outside of Washington.
“Between 25,000 and 30,000 of the new passports will be available to applicants at the Washington, D.C., passport office beginning shortly before July 4,” Fox News reports.
Trump will be the first living president to be featured in a passport.
White House spokesperson Olivia Wales added to the outlet that Trump‘s “new patriotic passport design provides yet another great way Americans can join in the spectacular celebrations for America’s 250th birthday” and that Trump “continues to proudly lead a renewal of national pride and patriotism during our historic semiquincentennial celebration.”
Trump will also be featured in a 24-carat commemorative gold coin for the anniversary, and the Treasury Department announced earlier this year that his signature is being added to U.S. dollar bills.
It marks the first time a sitting president’s signature appears on paper currency, which is usually signed by the treasury secretary and the treasurer.
