Law Roach is opening up about that viral video of him at the Louis Vuitton fashion show in Paris back in March 2023.
The longtime stylist of Zendaya joined her at the presentation, but after getting to her seat, there was a moment where they were confused about the seating arrangement.
Video of the moment went viral with people coming to their own conclusions about what happened, and shortly after, he announced he was retiring from styling, which led to more speculation.
In a new interview, Law set the record straight on the whole ordeal and how it got blown out of proportion.
“It wasn’t—you know, the internet has a way of contorting things, right? It’s like, it wasn’t that I didn’t have a front-row seat. They just—we came in, they rushed her to the seat as they should. She’s an ambassador. She’s the face of the brand,” Law said on SiriusXM’s Bevelations. “They just didn’t know where my seat was, and they told me to sit behind her and it wasn’t that that was the thing. It was like, the seat behind her was her assistant’s seat, so if you sit me behind her, where would he sit? And that’s not the way we roll, right? He’s always behind her. I had another seat on the front row down a bit, right? So, it was just a misunderstanding. It had nothing to do with that.”
Law then addressed another part of that scenario, where people said he thinks he’s the talent, and not just the stylist.
“The thing about the talent thing is that I am the Zendaya of my industry. You know what I mean?” he shared. “You know, like when it comes to my job, I am that. You know what I mean? I am—respectfully, I am the most famous stylist in the world. You know what I mean? I am probably one of the only, if not the only stylist that I can go globally and people recognize me and all those things. But I worked for that. You know what I mean?”
“So when they say, ‘He’s not the talent,’ but I am. You know what I mean? Let’s just keep it real. I am, at this point, I am a household name. I am the Serena Williams of styling. You know what I mean? It just is what it is, respectfully,” Law added.
“And you know, people could say whatever they want, but the truth is the truth. You know, there is only one me, right?” he continued. “And because of me, I’ve been able to open doors for so many other people who look like me, who hopefully can get, if they choose, to this level of success, right? So, it is what it is. So, you could say, ‘Oh, he thinks he—’ but I am, right?”
Law previously addressed the Louis Vuitton moment, explaining that they were late to the show due to traffic and were quickly shuffled to their seats.
